Salvation

What is salvation? Why do I need saved? What do I need saved from?

Salvation means deliverance or to rescue some one from physical harm mainly from sin and its deadly consequences. Sin is any attitude or action that opposes the character and will of God. Sin is what seperates us from God.

Romans 6:20-23; For when you were slaves of sin you were free in regard to righteousness. What fruit did you have then in the things you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord.

The terms sin and hell are not politically correct terms in a lot of arenas in the world today. This does not change the truth that the wages of sin are eternal seperation from God and if we remain forever seperated from God the only thing that remains is a place Jesus calls hell and Jesus description of hell is quite unnerving. But here's the good news!

John 3:16 tells us for God so loved the world He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved.

If Jesus does not condemn us then who does? Satan. The Bible teaches us that Satan roves the earth like a roaring lion condemning all men. But we have an advocate named Jesus who justifies us before God even though Satan is condemning us before God. The Bible tells us Jesus is our propitiation. This means Jesus is our shield. Like the propituary tiles on the space shuttle which protect the astronauts from all the heat upon re-entry into earths atmosphere,  Jesus protects us from the burning in hell...in other words Jesus is our protection from the wages of sin which is eternal death.

It is Jesus love for us that He was willing to lay down His life in a horrible death and rise from the dead for you and I. Jesus gives us that hope of living a resurrected life here and now and also live forever with Jesus with a resurrected body.

Jesus died that we would be forgiven of our sin. This starts with our acknowledging our need for saving and repenting of our sin asking Jesus to take control of our lives this means we surrender our whole life over to Jesus as our master. To repent means to change our minds to turn away from sin and set our eyes upon Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.

If you need to do this do it now! Pray acknowledging your need for a savior, repenting from your sin and asking Jesus into your life. If you would like someone to lead you through this prayer please call 941-426-3232 or make a prayer request which will be sent directly to some one at the church. God Bless You!
