Our Beliefs
Atwater Community Church is committed to making more wholehearted followers of Jesus beginning in our communities [Port Charlotte and North Port] and continuing to do so around the world through missions support. As we passionately love God, we desire others to experience the transformational presence of God as well.
ACC has been called to create healthy Christians that transform their communities through meeting the needs of the community and passionately sharing the love of God by sacrificially loving others.
We believe in the fundamental doctrines of the evangelical Protestant church. We believe in the Scriptures, the entire Bible, Old and New Testaments, as inspired, infallible Word of God.
We believe that God is eternal existent in three seperate persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that God the Father is the personal, transcendent, and sovereign creator of all things.
We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human, that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, provided for the atonement of our sins by His death on the Cross, was bodily resurrected by the power of the Holy Spirit, ascended back to the right hand of the Father, and ever lives to make intercession for us.
After He ascended to heaven, Jesus poured out His Holy Spirit on the believers in Jerusalem, empowering them to fulfill His command to preach the Gospel to the entire world, an obligation shared by all believers today. [Acts 2&Matthew 28] We believe Acts 2 is the model for the Christian Church today. A church filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit boldly preaching the Gospel and sharing the love of Christ.
We believe that all people are by nature seperated from God and responsible for their own sin, but that salvation, redemption, and forgiveness of sin are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person repents of sin and accepts Jesus Christ as personal savior and Lord, trusting Him to save, that person is immediately born again their spirit is immediately regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and all their sins are forgiven, and that person becomes a Child of God, destined to spend eternity with the Lord.
We believe in Sanctification to be a new quality of life in Christ that commences at the new birth, develops through a growing process and consumates at the appearing of Christ when all believers will be glorified.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the believer is empowered to live a victorious Christ-like life. We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit listed in the New Testament and expect all believers to operate in their spiritual gifts edifying the body of Christ. [the Church] We believe in divine healing [physical, spiritual, relational and emotional] by a prayer of faith. |
